Welcome to South Algonquin

South Algonquin is located adjacent to the south-east corner of Algonquin Provincial Park and offers you an abundance of four-season wilderness experiences with our numerous lakes, rivers, streams and thousands of acres of crown land — here for you to explore.

Our area is well known for its hundreds of kilometers of recreational trails, offering snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and dogsledding during the winter months. Throughout the other seasons, South Algonquin offers hiking, ATVing, canoeing, kayaking, whitewater rafting, camping, hunting and fishing.

The fishing is great all year round, especially trout fishing. We have excellent small and large mouth bass fishing during their open season. Walleye and pike, having been introduced to the area more than twenty years ago, offer large trophies for the fishing enthusiast.

Blue Box Recycling Program

In cooperation with Emterra Environmental of Renfrew the township will begin accepting Blue Box Material as of August 24, 2022 at both landfill sites.

At a Glance

Landfill Site Hours of Operation:

WEDNESDAYS – April 6 to October 19: 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm

Starting Wednesday October 26 landfill site hours will be from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

SATURDAYS – April 2 to October 29: 8:00 am to 12:00 noon

Spring Cleanup Schedule: Both sites will be open 8:00 am to 3:30 pm Saturdays starting on April 16th until June 4th.

Regular Saturday hours will resume on June 11th.

SUNDAYS – April 24 to October 9: Sundays 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
