Skating
Enjoy outdoor skating in both Whitney and Madawaska at Township-maintained outdoor rinks when weather conditions permit.

Outdoor Rinks
The Township maintains outdoor rinks in both Whitney and Madawaska. These facilities are weather permitting, and rink schedules can vary through the season.

Snowmobiling & OFSC Trail Conditions
Before riding an OFSC Prescribed Snowmobile Trail, check the OFSC Interactive Trail Guide for the latest trail availability. The guide identifies trails as Available, Limited Availability or Unavailable and is the official province-wide reference for current OFSC trail status.
Ice Fishing

Tobogganing & Family Winter Fun
Tobogganing is a simple way to enjoy a snowy South Algonquin day. Choose hills and open spaces carefully, avoid roads, parking areas, trees, waterways and other hazards, supervise children and use helmets where appropriate.
Boat Launch & Trails Master Plan
The Township of South Algonquin is developing a Boat Launch & Trails Master Plan to guide the future of local trails, connections, boat-launch access and recreational infrastructure. The trail component will consider year-round recreation, including opportunities for activities such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
