Comprehensive Zoning By-law Update – October 2026
At the Council meeting held on October 7, 2026, a Planning Recommendation Report was presented outlining the comments and feedback received from the public and agencies regarding the draft Comprehensive Zoning By-law.
Following consideration of the report, Council directed staff to bring forward a final draft of the Comprehensive Zoning By-law for Council’s consideration at the Regular Council Meeting scheduled for November 4, 2026.

Background
The Township of South Algonquin initiated the process of developing a new Comprehensive Zoning By-law to better align with the Township’s Official Plan, current planning policies, and legislative requirements. The review was intended to modernize the existing Zoning By-law and ensure that it continued to reflect the needs of the community.
A draft Comprehensive Zoning By-law was presented to the Committee of the Whole on July 22, 2026, for review and comment, marking the beginning of the formal review and public consultation process.
Public Consultation
As part of the review process, the Township held in-person open houses, virtual consultation opportunities, and a statutory Public Meeting in September to provide residents and property owners with an opportunity to learn more about the proposed Zoning By-law and provide feedback.
The consultation sessions were well attended, and the Township received significant feedback and comments from residents and property owners. The Township would like to thank everyone who attended a session, submitted written comments, or otherwise participated in the consultation process.
