While many people assume e-scooters are legal everywhere, that’s not the case. In Ontario, e-scooters can only be used in municipalities that have chosen to participate in the provincial e-scooter pilot program and have passed local bylaws allowing their use. In some communities, riding an e-scooter on public roads, trails, or sidewalks may be prohibited.
